Personal Injury Motor Claims Handler
Summary
To deal with all aspects of third party claims including but not limited to; personal injury claims, third part damage claims, credit hire and credit repair damage claims within agreed quality and service standard up to the specified handling authority limit.
Key Responsibilities:
- To take details of claim reports over the telephone from policy holders & brokers
- Differentiate between own damage and third party damages
- To know the difference between RTA liability and legal liability for damages
- Ability to recognise the potential extent/Seriousness of claims at initial report.
- Possess at least basic knowledge of typical fraud indicators
- An ability to empathise with and explore circumstances verbally with the clients
- Possess an inquisitive mind generally
- Principles of and assessment of “liability” for collision
- Detailed and expedient enquiry into reported theft loss
- Instructing engineers and adjusters and knowing when to do so
- Knowledge of acceptable time frames for various stages of claim process
- Ability to interpret policy wording and apply to claim circumstance
- Understand conditions & warranties as may be found attached to motor & property policies
- Clear understanding of the principle of indemnity
- A good understanding of the MOJ Portal, as well as non MOJ cases
- Experience in dealing with Scottish personal injury claims
- Motor total loss process and miaftr
- Vehicle salvage regulations and basic legal principles
- Validation of vehicle documentation and legal ownership
- Knowledge of windows based o/s, word, excel, outlook, internet
- Manage a case portfolio
- Work to deadlines
- Work easily as part of team
- Good timekeeping and presentation of self and work
Knowledge and Experience:
Must have at least 2 years claims experience
Skills / Personal Qualities:
- Educated to GCSE level and will be CII qualified or looking to obtain the qualification
- Excellent communication skills: written and oral
- Knowledge of Windows based systems
- Good Data input skills
- Excellent time management
- Ability to work alone and as part of a team
