How can I cancel my policy online?

Unfortunately, you cannot cancel your policy online. Please call us on: 01481 728 987 to discuss your cancellation.

Please note we will require the WID to be returned to the office.

How can I get a new business quotation?

Please contact our office directly on 01481 728 987.

How can I get proof of my No Claim Discount?

If your policy is due for renewal, the renewal quotation letter  should count as evidence of your no claim discount (NCD) for your next insurer.

If you cancel at any other point, and have been insured with us for more than a year, we’ll automatically include proof of NCD, if applicable, with your cancellation letter. If you would prefer this via email, please request this at the time of cancelling.

If you’ve been with us for less than a year we’ll send you a separate letter to confirm how long you have been claim free for (in total).

If you have already cancelled your policy and no longer have your documents, please call us on 01481 728 987.

How do I change my vehicle?

It is quick and easy to change your vehicle with Clegg Gifford. Give us a call on 01481 728 987 to discuss this further.

We will need to know details about the vehicle (including the registration number) before we can give you a quote to change your vehicle.

There may be a change in premium depending upon certain underwriting criteria. In some instances, it may result in a refund!

Please make sure to notify us at renewal if you are planning to change your vehicle.

How do I add a driver?

It is quick and easy to add a driver to your policy, give us a call on 01481 728 987 to discuss this further.

In order for us to process this change, we will need some information about the new driver (including D.O.B, driving history, claims information etc) before we can give you a quote.

There may be a change in premium depending upon certain underwriting criteria.

Be sure to notify us at renewal if you plan to add an additional driver to your policy.

Do I need a WID for my car?

Yes, all vehicles within Guernsey require a WID.

We send out WID’s with each new policy and renewal.

Please pop into our office should you require any assistance.

Do you charge an admin fee to make a change?

We charge a standard £25 administration fee on policies, this includes on new business, renewals, cancellations and for adding vehicles and drivers.

We do not charge for a change of registration number.

Where can I find my policy number?

Your policy number is always on your WID.

You can find your policy number on all policy documentation that we send to you.

For motor policies it will be in the THF… format.

For commercial policies it will be in the P-TCF… format.

For Taxi policies it will be in the P-TSV.. format.

How do I renew my policy?

We send out renewal documentation to policy holders up to 4 weeks before the actual renewal date. (Timeframes may differ slightly depending on the insurance product!)

Will my policy be automatically renewed if I pay by direct debit?

No, all policies have to manually renewed to protect customers.

What options are there to pay my premium?

There are multiple options available for payment:

  • Pay in full via Credit / Debit card
  • Pay via BACS
  • Pay via Direct Debit (subject to status)
  • Pay with cash at our local office in Admiral House

Does my motor insurance premium automatically include legal expense and off island breakdown cover?

No, these are both optional extensions which can be added to your policy, if you require.

Do I need to notify you if I want to lapse my policy?

Yes, it is preferable to notify us if you intend to lapse your policy. This enables us to issue any relevant documentation and update our records accordingly.
